Goodbye
... For Now
ArmchairQB.com Takes A Break To Evaluate Its Options.

NEW
YORK (AQB)--And now, a commercial break.
It
is with much pain, angst and relief that we, the curators of ArmchairQB.com,
announce our hiatus. While we still love covering the sports media
industry, it has gotten tougher and tougher to produce a quality
web site and live a quality life.
A
lot has happened since we first conceived the site in March 1998
and launched it in August of the same year. We've covered events
that we would have only watched on television, talked to people
whom we never would have spoken with before and learned a lot about
big business and ourselves.
We've
also had a lot happen to us personally over those nearly two years.
We both were promoted at our real (i.e. paying) jobs, and we both
moved into more permanent homes. The increased responsibilities
at work and at home have made it too difficult to maintain the level
of quality that we were aiming for on the site.
We
still believe, though, that there is a strong need for "covering
those that cover sports." And, hopefully, someday it will be us,
but we are unfortunately unable to do it under the current set-up.
We are, however, evaluating our options.
In
the meantime, though, do not think that we - two Web soldiers -
are just going to fade away. We may reignite the site for sports'
biggest stages, such as the NCAA tournament, the Masters or the
Kentucky Derby. We ask that you check back periodically for any
updates.
Also,
we will return to our Internet radio show, something that we have
left dormant way too long, at Ron Diorio's Sports
News Network. You can find our latest show either by visiting
Ron's site at www.sportsnewsnetwork.com,
where you can check out his other fine sports programming, or by
going to AQB's home page, where a
link to the latest show will always be present.
Finally,
before we go, we have a lot of people to thank, including:
- Our wives
and family, who had to put up with us constantly spending
"just five minutes more" in front of our computer or television.
- Our contributors.
These are mainly our friends whom we were able to talk into writing
something for the site. Amazingly, all of them are still our friends.
- The networks'
media relations staffs, especially the great guys at Fox and
the wonderful women (and guy) at CBS, who always seemed to go
out of their way for us.
- Rich Johnson,
whose constant links on his terrific sportspages.com
site helped us to gain visibility and some acceptability in the
sports community.
- And you,
the readers.
Thank
you,
George Stahl and Randy Williams
