NEW
YORK (AQB)--CBS Sports begins its fourth straight year of college
football coverage with an impressive doubleheader Sept. 18 of
Penn State at Miami at 3:30 p.m. and then regional coverage
of either 1998 National Champion Tennessee at Florida or
Michigan at Syracuse at 8 p.m.
The
network's 12-week regular-season schedule features home games
of the Southeastern and Big East Conferences, as well as the 100th
Army-Navy game on Dec. 4. The 66th annual Sun Bowl,
involving teams from the Big Ten and Pac-10, concludes CBS' schedule
on New Year's Eve.
Sean
McDonough returns as lead play-by-play announcer; however,
he is matched this year with Todd
Blackledge, who joins CBS from ABC where he was a studio
analyst since 1996. Blackledge replaces Terry Donahue, who left
to be personnel director for the San Francisco 49ers.

new to CBS' college football team is former Oklahoma University
running back Spencer Tillman, who joins Tim Brando
on the network's college football studio show, College Football
Today, which will air at least seven half-hour shows this

now part of CBS' NFL studio show, The NFL Today, and Lou
Holtz, now coach at South Carolina.
