Week
15: Guru, Chief & Co. Head To Battle
My
friends, the Guru is home in the Midwest
with Chief Redskin, preparing to visit Indianapolis Sunday.
The
whole world loves the Colts in this ballgame but, in a huge surprise,
I think the Mighties will get a big win to cement their stronghold
on the NFC East.
Two
keys will be Washington's ability to run the ball and its ability
to contain the Colts' Edgerrin James but the biggest factor of all
is this: the Guru and the one who sired him, the Chief, are 7-0
all-time on the road, including a 1994 win vs Indy.
Over
the years, the Chief and I have experienced big victories in other
cities, such as St. Louis and New York, trips which involved the
old fella calling his trusty sports bar to let the establishment
know that someone could use his stool for a day.
The
Chief and the Guru will be accompanied by my sister, Miss Sixpoints,
and the incomparable Mother Guru, the fine lady who allowed yours
truly to read the sports section while being breast fed as a youngster.
Prognosticators, bear in mind that the presence of Miss Sixpoints
is generally worth six big points to the Mighties.
Elsewhere,
I like KC over Pittsburgh, Carolina over San Fran, Miami against
San Diego, Chicago against Detroit, Philly in an upset against New
England and the Rams over the Giants.
Other
winners: Baltimore over New Orleans, Jacksonville at Cleveland,
Tampa at Oakland, the New York Jets against Dallas, Denver over
Seattle, Tennessee vs the Falcons, Minnesota over the Packers and
Arizona against Buffalo.
This
Dallas pick may be shocking but remember that the Jets have played
very well in four of the past five weeks and the ailing Cowboys
have been anything but consistent. As much as it hurts me, Dallas
loses.
Apologies
for the abbreviated version but look for more soon as we head into
the final two weeks of the 1999 campaign. Have a different opinion?
Send me an e-mail
and I'll tell you where you've gone wrong.
