Week 7: A
Thankful Guru
By Randy Williams
My friends,
the Guru is thankful. Let me count
the ways.
Thankful the Skins play only 20 games per season (if you don't
think preseason games count, check the scars on my heart). Thankful
Norv Turner was last seen hitching a ride aboard a semi bound
for Dallas. Thankful I spent Sunday ill and didn't have to
watch my mighties lose to the..the..Philadelphia Eagles.
Sunday's loss to the Birds was the first Skins game I've missed
since a 1989 mid-season victory against Tampa Bay. I solemnly vow
not to miss another Skins contest until I am buried in a casket
the size of a piano case.
This weekend another streak begins for the Guru and you've got
to like the Skins' chances at Minnesota, where they are merely
13-point underdogs. Bet the ranch on the Burgundy and Gold.
Week
5 record: 6-6-1 (I'm feelin' it, sports lovers)
Season record: 25-38-3 (Still a step ahead of Norv))
Norv T's record: 26-43-1 (and I could recite each play of
those 43 defeats)

This Thursday night special matches two teams moving in
opposite directions. The Packers are led by MVP Brett Favre while
the Lions are quarterbacked by Charlie Batch, a rookie from Eastern
Michigan.
Green Bay is the logical choice in this game but, as all readers
know, the Guru shuns logic like Richard Simmons shuns cupcakes
and females. Of course, I'm only kidding. Simmons loves
cupcakes. Kidding aside, the Packers have had two weeks to think
about their disappointing loss to Minnesota and will be rarin' to
go. PACKERS
Unfortunately, due to an illness, this
week's Crystal Ball is abbreviated. Who knew that a loss to the
Eagles could be that painful? Have no fear, the Guru will return
in week 8 with more insult-filled, but not insight-filled, commentary.
